Ghassan Yousif Alshahbani: As a well-known Bahraini journalist, Ghassan Yousif Alshahbani has over thirty years of experience in the journalism field. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in the Arabic language from the University of Bahrain in 1989, which is also where he received in Master’s degree in the Arabic language in 2018. Ever since 1989, he has worked as a journalist exploring several topics, such as local news and economy. Nevertheless, he also worked as a writer for many journalist platforms and magazines, including Alkhaleej UAE, Alsharq, Alqataria, Forbes Middle East, and AlRay Kuwait. Due to his astonishing work, he was chosen to be one of the ten media and culture professional voices for establishing a new journalists law in Bahrain in 2001, which was sponsored by the crown prince and prime minister of Bahrain, H.R.H. Salman bin Hamad Alkhalifa. With a strong passion for journalism, Alshahbani successfully established multiple daily newspapers and journals, including: Alwasat in 2002, Alwatan in 2005, Alwaqt in 2006, and finaly Aswaq in 2008. Currently, he is a member of the Editorial Board for the Bahrian Althaqafya magazine, which is published by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiques since 2016. Nevertheless, Alshahbani has been recognized with many distinguishable awards due to his extraordinary work, the most notable of which is the Arab Journalism Award in Dubai for the category of Political Journalism. Additionally, he has also won many other prestigious awards for his unique work in Investigatiev Journalism which he conducted in 2011 and 2022. Not only was he a winner of many awards, but he also had the opportunity to judge awards as well, such as the Children’s Fair in the Article Category (for three consecutive years), the Areej Investigative Journalism Awards in the Written Journalism category (for four consecutive years), the Khalifa bin Salman Journalism Award (for two rounds), and many more. Regarding his books, he has written many astonishing books. These include: غازي القصيبي: طيف التلاوين, اهق إبنة الحديد, راشد العريفي المسكون بالملاحم و الاساطير, المواطنة و القوى الوطنية في البحرين و الكويت: تحديات مشروع الدولة الحديثة, all and more of which are proudly distributed by both, the Bahraini Library specifically and other libraries around the Gulf region as well.
